HATHA YOGA dates back to the 15th century and is a system that promotes physical health and mental wellbeing. Hatha yoga uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana) combined with energy locks (mudra) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. There are nearly 200 Hatha Yoga postures with hundred of variations which keep the spine supple and to promote circulation in all the organs, glands and tissues. Hatha Yoga postures also stretch and align the body promoting balance and flexibility.
HATHA YOGA IS FOR EVERYONE. It is non-competitive and adaptable to every shape, size, gender, age group and state of health. It is most suitable for injury rehabilitation as it is a slow, meditative therapy which gently nurses our muscle injury back to optimal health. It promotes flexibility, increases blood flow, heightens blood oxygenation and produces endorphins.
HATHA YOGA STRENGTHENS THE WHOLE BODY. We develop strength by using our core to support us and by engaging our muscles actively to keep us in a posture (asana). Each posture lengthens out the body thus releasing the tension from our body especially in our tensed, chair-bound culture. Certain postures are good for digestion, respiratory, circulatory, nerves and granular system.
HATHA YOGA IS A TRUE STRESS RELIEVER. Hatha Yoga teaches us to pay attention to our breath (pranayama). When we slow down and take deep, full breaths, we can relax our parasympathetic nervous system, which alleviates anxiety and tension. These breathing techniques also promote blood circulation and help improve the oxygen supply to all parts of the body.
HATHA YOGA FOR MENTAL CLARITY AND INNER PEACE. Meditation (Dhyana) is a moment for silence, inner peace, and self reflection. It is an effective therapy for stress, anxiety, addictions and more. It leads to peace of mind and wellbeing, greater focus and creativity and better relationships.
